Choosing a Side: Enforcers and Criminals

Play begins with a decision between the two sides of the law: the Enforcer or the Criminal. After picking a side, you customize your gear for the task at hand and hit the streets, playing how you want in a city built around that choice. The game is framed as an action MMO third-person shooter, and the faction pick is the first concrete step before you take your custom loadout into San Paro and the urban combat that follows.

Each side carries its own expected behavior. As a Criminal, the documented role is to wreak havoc and nurture San Paro's tradition of anarchy: steal, maim, and make the city and the Enforcers fear you. The Blood Roses and G-Kings want only the roughest hoodlum in their ranks. Mission objectives are the route to progress through the ranks of your chosen faction, while strength is measured against the opposite faction in real-time PVP in the Financial District compounds and along the Waterfront District shoreline.

Districts and Open-World PVP

San Paro hosts a district system capped at 100 players, and that capacity is set aside for open-world player-versus-player combat. The districts named are the Financial District and the Waterfront District, with the Financial side described as bustling compounds and the Waterfront as a vast shoreline. The city around them is presented through an imposing skyline and vibrant nightlife, with street violence treated as part of the setting. Players fight as either a hardened Criminal or a rugged Enforcer to regain dominance of the streets as an action MMO third-person shooter.

The documented PVP loop places real-time combat against the opposite faction inside the Financial District compounds and along the Waterfront District shoreline. Alongside that fighting, players complete mission objectives, and those objectives are the stated route for progressing through the ranks of their respective faction. Strength is measured against the opposing side in these real-time encounters. A Criminal's documented expectation is to wreak havoc and nurture San Paro's tradition of anarchy by stealing, maiming, and making the city and the Enforcers fear them; the Blood Roses and G-Kings accept only the roughest hoodlums.

Missions, Objectives and Faction Ranks

Faction progress in APB Reloaded runs through mission objectives rather than passive time in the city. Completing those objectives is the documented route for moving up the ranks of whichever side you joined, so the mission work and the rank ladder are linked directly. The same structure applies to both factions: objectives are completed to advance through the ranks of your respective faction, and the game frames that advancement as the payoff for the work you put in on the streets of San Paro.

Alongside mission objectives, the game documents real-time player-versus-player combat against the opposite faction in two named locations: the bustling compounds of the Financial District and the vast shoreline of the Waterfront District. Strength is measured against the opposing side in those real-time encounters, while rank comes from mission objectives. The Criminal expectation is spelled out concretely as wreaking havoc, stealing, maiming, and making the city and the Enforcers fear them, with the Blood Roses and G-Kings accepting only the roughest hoodlums into their ranks.

Weapons, Modifications and Vehicles

Weapons in APB Reloaded are part of an ever-expanding arsenal, and the game lists specific modifications such as bandoliers, hunting sights, cooling jackets, and extended magazines. These attachments are documented examples of how a weapon can be altered, with the game describing the customization possibilities for weapons as endless. The same customization system extends to clothing and vehicles, so the equipment a player brings into San Paro's open-world districts can be adjusted across multiple categories.

Vehicles include muscle cars, trucks, and many other types, and each one is described as unique with its own specific handling and physics. That means the choice of vehicle is not purely cosmetic: the handling and physics model differs from one vehicle to the next. Players can also customize their vehicles as part of the broader customization options, alongside character and clothing adjustments.

Character Customization and Custom Theme Songs

Character customization in APB Reloaded reaches the character's body, clothes, signature symbols, favorite vehicles and weapons, letting players add a personal touch across each of those categories. Weapons belong to an ever-expanding arsenal whose documented modifications include bandoliers, hunting sights, cooling jackets and extended magazines, while vehicles range from muscle cars to trucks and everything in between. Clothing and vehicle customization sit alongside these weapon alterations, so the loadout taken into San Paro can be adjusted through more than one avenue before a district is entered.

A dedicated piece of the customization toolset is an in-game music studio used to create custom theme songs. Players set up a sound signature for their character through this studio, giving the soundtrack identity a concrete mechanic rather than a cosmetic label. The game frames the overall system as uniquely extensive, pairing this audio work with the body, clothing, weapon and vehicle adjustments described elsewhere. Music is thus documented as one named component of the same personalization set, created inside the game's own studio rather than supplied from outside.
