32-Player Deathmatch and a Choice of Two Factions
The Invaders puts up to 32 players into multiplayer deathmatch, with the fighting presented from a third-person perspective. Players battle one another in the same action-shooter format, rather than the player count describing a separate mode. The advertised capacity is an upper limit: a match can accommodate as many as 32 participants, not necessarily a fixed roster of 32.
Alongside that multiplayer format, players have a choice between two factions. Picking an allegiance is part of the deathmatch setup, so faction selection and the 32-player capacity belong to the same advertised mode. The basic arrangement combines a choice of side with third-person combat against other players; it does not present the two factions as separate gameplay modes.
Third-Person Shooting: Over Ten Weapons on a Single Map
The Invaders offers more than ten different weapons for its deathmatch combat. Players use that arsenal in third-person shooting, with the weapon count applying to the multiplayer fighting described by the official profile. The description gives a lower bound rather than an exact total: more than ten weapons make up the advertised selection for battles against other players.
The battlefield offering is smaller: the official profile describes the game as relatively unfinished and lists a single map in its current state. That qualification matters when describing the scope of the shooting. The documented package pairs its weapon selection with one combat location, rather than a roster of maps; the single-map count describes the version presented in the profile.
The Mountain Hunters' Brief: Infiltration and Guerrilla Warfare
The Mountain Hunters’ assignment gives the fighting a specific military role: the player is cast as a member of Romania’s elite special forces under Ceausescu. Their brief is to pursue and destroy American forces, with an immediate objective of entering enemy territory and striking American infantry. Infiltration is therefore part of the stated assignment, alongside destruction, rather than simply a description of the unit’s training. The briefing moves from a broad target—American forces wherever they are found—to a more immediate task focused on infantry inside hostile territory.
The immediate attack is framed as a rapid strike, but the briefing describes the wider fighting as guerrilla warfare. Its setting is the ruined streets of American cities, with their destruction attributed to Romanian gunfire. That urban backdrop places the Mountain Hunters’ infiltration assignment within a conflict already being fought among damaged streets, rather than presenting their arrival as the opening of hostilities. The concrete sequence in the brief is straightforward: penetrate enemy-held territory, seek out American infantry, and deliver a swift attack. The guerrilla-war description supplies the context for that assignment.
A Fictional Romanian-American War, Backed by Period Music
The Invaders frames its conflict through an invented timeline beginning in 1988, with Romania under Nicolae Ceausescu. In the backstory, public fear and apathy precede his military buildup, presented as both a promise of hope and part of his own plan. War with the United States follows in 1989. The fiction attributes mass Romanian enlistment to resentment over America's failure to protect Romania from Stalin during the Second World War. These are the game's narrative premises, not a historical account of a Romanian-American war. Period Romanian communist music accompanies the communist-inspired setting, tying its soundtrack to the political theme.
That fictional war stretches into the following decades, with Romanian tanks advancing across American territory. The backstory marks winter 2024 as a turning point: Romania's air force has reduced American air power to less than a tenth of its former strength, leaving the remaining United States Army with tank and infantry support. By summer 2025, the planned push into Texas involves one million troops and two hundred thousand tanks. Those figures establish the scale of the story's invasion, rather than the number of units participating in a match. Texas is the campaign's stated target within this continuing alternate-history conflict.
